ÀJÀGBÓ OLÓRÒ (YORUBA) – Festive Period Music
Ajagbo (do:do:mi) is a brand of music earmarked for a period of festivity in some parts of Yorubaland. The Ajagbo choral groups compose and sing about the current events in their communities. The following was popular in some parts of Ekiti, a Yoruba subgroup, in the 70s.
Ajagbo ol’oro, odun me-i jo,
Ajagbo ol’oro, odun me-i jo o,
Ara, Baba, agba lu-wo mo a da!
We a ku l’omode o,
Ara, Baba, agba lu-wo mo a da!
We a ku l’omode o,
Ara, Baba, agba lu-wo mo a da!
Ajagbo ol’oro, odun me-i jo,
Ajagbo ol’oro, odun me-i jo o.
